Chatham Area Transit

Chatham Area Transit

The Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) was established on January 9, 1987.

CAT is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine (9) members. These members represent Chatham County, the City of Savannah, and all the communities therein, including special groups such as the elderly or disabled.

Funding for CAT comes from the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Administration, a local transit tax, and farebox revenues.

The free Liberty St. Shuttle connects commuters with the parking decks downtown, and the free dot Shuttle serves Savannah's downtown and Historic District, connecting to other CAT bus routes at the Transit Center.

The Savannah Belles Ferry service provides daily service between Hutchinson Island and River Street.

Multiple ride CAT cards, advance tickets, and transit information are available at the Joe Murray Rivers, Jr. Intermodal Transit Center, 610 W. Oglethorpe Avenue.
