Job Summary:
Under supervision of an assigned supervisor, completes and enters all Detention Assessment Instruments (DAI) and Pre-Disposition Risk Assessments (PDRA) for all delinquent youth facing disposition before the Chatham County Juvenile Court. Responsible for entering documents into the Juvenile Tracking System (JTS). Assists with gathering data needed to complete all grant reporting requirements for all current grants received by Juvenile Court. Provides data entry support for the court’s Justice Case Activity Tracking System (JCATS). Enters specialized data as it relates to Juvenile Mental Health Court, Family Dependency Treatment Court (FDTC) and other special initiatives related to Juvenile Justice Reform initiatives. Performs directly related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by one year of data entry experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language. Ability to operate or quickly learn to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks. 25 wpm Typing Test Required. CHIEF PUBLIC DEFENDER

Job Summary:
This is a State of Georgia position that reports directly to the Executive Director of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council while serving as the Circuit office manager in Chatham County. This position will make key decisions regarding the management of the Circuit, its budget, staff and cases. Supervises and manages assistant circuit public defenders, and/or attorneys, investigators, paraprofessionals, clerical assistants and independent contractors. Establishes a method for identifying conflicts of interest at the earliest possible opportunity. Must appropriately use state and local funds. Must properly manage state and local budgets. Must accurately report caseloads by type, including conflict cases. Must accurately report state and local budgets and expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least the age of 25 years. Must have been duly admitted and licensed to practice law in the superior courts for at least three years. Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia. If previously disbarred from the practice of law, must have been reinstated as provided by law.

Preferred Qualifications: A demonstrated, strong interest in the effective defense of indigent people accused of crimes. Sufficient experience in the defense of criminal cases (or equivalent trial experience) to permit him/her to evaluate the qualifications of the Assistant Public Defenders employed in the Circuit and to train or assist in the training of less experienced public defenders. Lead counsel in the defense of a person accused of a crime in at least ten (10) felony cases which were tried to completion before a jury, two of which involved crimes for which the maximum punishment was at least life in prison. Leadership skills and the ability to oversee the management of a Circuit Public Defender office and insure that Standards and Guidelines implemented by GPDSC are consistently met or exceeded throughout the circuit. The ability to establish and maintain sound fiscal policy and practice, supervise attorneys and other staff, communicate well with other participants in the criminal justice system, as well as with local government representatives.

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs law enforcement and public safety work in the custody and security of jail inmates. Position requires close physical contact with inmates and direct contact with the public. Position is one of possible high stress and verbal and/or physical confrontations. Position requires that the candidate should be able to respond to any location within the jail by running. Position requires that the candidate should be able to successfully rescue an unconscious/injured officer by moving them to a safe location. Position also requires lifting (at times heavy). Written reports and mathematical calculations are required. Communication skills are critical to performance of duties. Candidates must be able to follow written and verbal directions, and work different shifts as assigned. Candidates must be able to perform multiple tasks successfully under different degrees of circumstances. The Chatham County Sheriff's Department supervises inmates under the "Direct Supervision" concept. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (no online high school diplomas), supplemented by three (3) years work experience involving public contact; or equivalent combination of training and experience; ability to complete Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification for Jail and Peace Officer.  Valid driver's license; must be at least 20 years of age.  Physical ability to defend against inmate attack, ability to lift approx 20 lbs.; ability to push loaded carts; ability to climb stairs. Vision requirement must be 20/20 or 20/40 corrected.  Effective January 1, 2007, there is a physical agility test that is required by candidates for the position.  The agility test requires candidates to run 900 feet and to successfully drag a 160 pound dummy approx. 40 feet.  This is a one time entry level test. Special Requirements:  Must undergo physical psychological and psychometric tests, observed urinalysis drug screening and background investigation (charges involving drugs or moral turpitude may disqualify candidates), driver's history (a record of numerous traffic infractions or pattern of disregard for traffic laws may disqualify candidates), and credit check.  Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR certification as required.  Applicants must submit copies of last seven (7) years driver's history for all states candidates possessed a license,  birth certificate, high school diploma or GED certificate, social security card, all applicable documentation of relevant training and DD214 long form if applicable, current marriage license and all divorce decrees, and dispositions of any arrests with application to be eligible for testing.  ANY INCOMPLETE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.  APPLICANTS MUST BE A US CITIZEN OR NATURALIZED WITH DOCUMENTATION.
