POSITION: CIVIL ENGINEER I - TRAFFIC
DEPARTMENT: ENGINEERING
SALARY RANGE: $45,753 - $67,254

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Assistant County Engineer, reviews and assists in the preparation of engineering designs, plans and specifications for construction of public use facilities. Prepares legal descriptions, maps and sketches. Prepares estimates for construction contracts. Manages construction projects.
Identifies hazardous traffic locations and implements traffic engineering measures to correct problems. Investigates traffic accidents and maintains accident records. Reviews traffic studies for County road projects and new development. Reviews construction plans for traffic impacts. Analyzes and interprets traffic data. Administers the County Street Light Ordinance.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, including courses in traffic engineering and two (2) years of responsible professional work experience in civil engineering, traffic engineering, construction, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of the principles and practices, ordinances, etc., of traffic engineering; knowledge of modern methods and techniques used in the design and implementation of traffic control procedures. Must possess effective oral and written communication skills. Project administration experience and Engineer in Training Certificate desirable. |
