Position Title: APPRAISER I (Real Property)

Details: Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs residential, commercial or industrial property reviews and inspections of new and/or existing property to ensure accurate estimates of fair market value, including valuation, taxability and uniformity of assessments. Confers with and provides information to the public, regarding Georgia codes specific to the appraisal and assessment process. Maintains complete and accurate records of all data collections and assignments, including building permits and new subdivision splits and plats, as well as annual reviews required by the Appraisal procedures Manual. Assists in the preparation of cases and defenses of values before the Board of Equalization and/or Superior Court. Performs directly related work as required.  
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited university or college with a Bachelor’s Degree; or graduation from a standard high school and four (4) years experience in public or private construction, real estate, or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Possess effective oral and written communication skills; ability to utilize computer/hand held terminals desirable. Possess a Georgia Department of Revenue certification as an Appraiser I or the ability to obtain an Appraiser I designation within one (1) year of employment. Must be able to work well with the public. Possess ability to walk long distances while carrying 15 lbs. of equipment; possess ability to step high and move quickly away from dangerous animals and sites; ability to draw and write concise, detailed building drawings and dimensions; ability to lift and move 30 lbs; ability to perform data entry, research and other clerical duties. Valid driver’s license and good driving record a must. APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT COPY OF CERTIFICATION AND DRIVER’S LICENSE.  
Special Requirement: Upon voluntary termination of employment of less than 36 months of service, employee must reimburse the Board of Assessors for training and testing expenses. Reimbursement levels depend on months of service and expenses incurred.

Position Title: BRIDGE TENDER

Details: Job Summary:
Under direction, operates the opening and closing of bridges in a safe and expedient manner to both road traffic and marine vessels. Maintains logs and records; assists in preventative maintenance and bridgehouse upkeep. Work includes nights, weekends and holidays.  
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent training and experience. Must have reliable transportation and ability to be contacted by telephone for emergency work assignments. Possess good eyesight and hearing. Possess ability to make minor repairs and be mechanically inclined. Possess ability to read, write and speak clearly. Must be able to learn bridge operation, methods and techniques. Employee required to provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during normal working hours.

Details: Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs law enforcement and public safety work in the custody and security of jail inmates. Position requires close physical contact with inmates and direct contact with the public. Position is one of possible high stress and verbal and/or physical confrontations. Position requires that the candidate should be able to respond to any location within the jail by running. Position requires that the candidate should be able to successfully rescue an unconscious/injured officer by moving them to a safe location. Position also requires lifting (at times heavy). Written reports and mathematical calculations are required. Communication skills are critical to performance of duties. Candidates must be able to follow written and verbal directions, and work different shifts as assigned. Candidates must be able to perform multiple tasks successfully under different degrees of circumstances. The Chatham County Sheriff's Department supervises inmates under the "Direct Supervision" concept. This requires candidates to work under conditions requiring direct contact and supervision of inmates for an entire shift. *Notice: A conditional written agreement is required for this position.  
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (no online high school diplomas), supplemented by three (3) years work experience involving public contact; or equivalent combination of training and experience; ability to complete Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification for Jail and Peace Officer. Valid driver's license; must be at least 20 years of age. Physical ability to defend against inmate attack, ability to lift approx 20 lbs.; ability to push loaded carts; ability to climb stairs. Vision requirement must be 20/20 or 20/40 corrected. Effective January 1, 2007, there is a physical agility test that is required by candidates for the position. The agility test requires candidates to run 900 feet and to successfully drag a 160 pound dummy approx. 40 feet. This is a one time entry level test.  
Special Requirements: Must undergo physical psychological and psychometric tests, observed urinalysis drug screening and background investigation (charges involving drugs or moral turpitude may disqualify candidates), driver's history (a record of numerous traffic infractions or pattern of disregard for traffic laws may disqualify candidates), and credit check. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR certification as required. Applicants must submit copies of last seven (7) years driver's history for all states candidates possessed a license, birth certificate, high school diploma or GED certificate, social security card, all applicable documentation of relevant training and DD214 long form if applicable, current marriage license and all divorce decrees, and dispositions of any arrests with application to be eligible for testing. Position Title: EQUIPMENT MECHANIC I

Under general direction of the Bridge Superintendent, performs scheduled and emergency preventative maintenance on each of the County movable span drawbridges. Performs routine mechanical service duties; lubricates equipment, replaces fluids and makes routine repairs. Must operate the drawbridges for two (2) shifts during a normal work week. Performs other duties as requested.  
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, supplemented by one (1) year experience as an apprentice mechanic; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess knowledge of methods and practices of servicing equipment; must possess ability to keep simple records. Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

Position Title: GIS TECHNICIAN

Details: Job Summary:
Under supervision and direction of the division manager, maintains, manages, locates and identifies all County parcels and properties utilizing the GIS automated mapping system. Operates GIS and Engineering programs, including digitizing plat data in Arc/Info, reading engineering designs, drawings and plans, and performing routine drafting to create and correct tax maps. Performs routine cartography and various title abstracting duties. Provides technical clerical support services to departmental personnel, system users and general public as requested. Performs related duties as required.  
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Engineering, Drafting, or related field, supplemented by automated mapping, civil engineering and knowledge of appraisal principles and practices and ESRI software courses; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess knowledge of Geographic Information System, local government rules and regulations, and the U.S. Government standards for Drafting. Possess knowledge of surveying terminology, recording and tax procedures. Possess ability to research and retrieve information from maps, plats, deeds, and other public documents. Must be able to prepare and present accurate reports. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Valid Georgia Driver’s License required.

Position Title: LAW ENFORCEMENT RECORDS SPECIALIST I

Graduation from high school and three (3) years of clerical or office experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Position Title: LIFEGUARD (Part Time)

Under general supervision, monitors the behavior and activity of patrons in the pool; provides a safe environment for swimming, enforces rules and guidelines of the Aquatic Center. Responds to emergency situations in a timely manner. Provides instruction to members. Participates in in-service training. Maintains daily logs. Performs other related duties as required.  
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. No previous lifeguard experience necessary. Lifeguards must take and pass the StarGuard Training Course. Must be willing to learn and adhere to all related guidelines, rules and regulations and required training. Possess ability to provide instruction/training to patrons. Must be able to maintain good customer and employee relations. Must possess valid Georgia Driver’s License.
