Animal Control ordinance and fees have changed

Animal control fees and the Animal Control Ordinance has changed.

Chatham County amended the Animal Control ordinance to address three key changes on July 23rd, 2004.

1) Impoundment fees have increased to $35.00 a day (formerly $25.00) and $10.00 a day (formerly $5.00) boarding. This will be effective August 16, 2004.

2) Multiple dog or cat license: People who have more than ten dogs or cats will be charged $100.00 per 10 providing they are in compliance with the distance requirements. Otherwise a maximum of 3 dogs will be allowed on premises.

3) The tag fee for all spayed and neutered cats and dogs has decreased to $2.00 for a tag.

4) The tag fee for all unspayed and unneutered cats and dogs (eight months of age and older) has increased to $20.00 a tag.
