The STATE COURT OF CHATHAM COUNTY addresses criminal misdemeanor cases either by acceptance of pleas or by trials before the court or jury trials, as requested by the defendants.  State Court judges also preside over all civil cases filed in the State Court, having concurrent jurisdiction with the Superior Courts with the exception of equity, land cases and domestic relations.  It also serves as the appellate court for the Magistrate Court of Chatham County on a de novo basis.
